Beaches
Enjoy swimming in the clear, blue lakes! There is plenty of beaches in all parts of Parikkala. On a sunny day you can sunbathe, swim or play beach volleyball. Just relax and enjoy!
There are no lifeguards on the beaches. Clothes and other personal items are their owner’s responsibility. Beaches and changing facilities are cleaned and maintained during the summer season, and water quality is monitored regularly.
Haljakka Beach (Melkoniementie 156, 59310 Särkisalmi)
Located about 2 kilometres from Särkisalmi centre, by the lake Simpelejärvi. Jetty, changing room, sandy shore. Kid-friendly beach.
Likolampi Beach (Uimalantie 1, 59100 Parikkala)
Beach by the Likolampi pond, very clear waters. A separate swimming area for kids is lined with a jetty. Changing room available. Nature trail passes the beach and circles the pond, length approx. 2.5 kilometres. Jetties and diving platform renewed in 2009.
Rantapuisto Beach (Tukkikuja 7, 59100 Parikkala)
Located in the city centre of Parikkala. Kid-friendly beach for sunbathing and active plays and games by the shore. Changing room, toilet, beach volleyball court. Good location near the city centre and services, by the lake Simpelejärvi.
Papinniemi Beach (Papinniementie 178, 59730 Uukuniemi)
Beach by the lake Pyhäjärvi, located in Papinniemi Camping site. Famous for the long, sandy beach. Beach volleyball court and restaurant serving delicious local food.
Saari Beach (Kirkkorannantie 65, 59520 Saari kk)
Located 7 kilometres from the Saari city centre, by the clear-watered lake Suur-Rautjärvi. Sandy beach, changing room, toilet, barbeque facilities. Long jetty with a diving board.
Tokkari Beach (Pyhäjärventie 10, 59730 Uukuniemi)
Beach by the lake Pyhäjärvi. located in Niukkala. Kid-friendly and very popular among families with kids. Beach volleyball court, playground. Distance to a grocery store and cafe 200 metres.
