Aate-Pekka Hiking Trail (length 3 km) runs in the neighbourhood of Oronmylly Conference and Recreation Centre. Starting point at Oronmylly. Viewing point at Suurvuori and several rest areas with lean-to shelters and fireplace sites along the hiking trail.
Aate-Pekka Hiking Trail (length 3 km) runs in the neighbourhood of Oronmylly Conference and Recreation Centre. You can find grand ridges, clear water ponds, a beautiful swamp and a viewing point (Suurvuori) along the trail. While hiking you can also rest in the two lean-to shelters and fireplace sites along the route.
The trail is well-suited for birdwatching and offers a diversity of bird species. Several bird species nest in the area. By the swamp it is possible to see the common greenshank, by the river the green sandpiper and by the pond the common sandpiper. While hiking on the trail, you can also observe black-throated loons, beavers and ducks that nest in the ponds. In the late winter, close to spring, it is possible to hear the calls of the Eurasian eagle-owls and Boreal owls.

Driving directions: From Highway 6 in Särkisalmi, turn to Melkoniementie road. Drive for 4 kilometres and turn right by the signpost Oronmylly 2.
