In Parikkala there are more birdwatching possibilities and places than just the traditional birdwatching towers. In many places it is possible to go to the nature and watch birds. Towers are not necessarily needed for birdwatching and therefore the the disabled can also enjoy and take part in birdwatching.

If you want to see forest birds, the best places for a birdwatching trip are the Pöröpeikonpolku hiking trail and the Oronmylly Conference and Recreation Centre. In these areas you might be able to see birds like the wood grouse, black grouse, hazel grouse, parrot crossbill, black woodpecker and Eurasian eagle-owl.
