This hiking trail offers two different routes, lengths 3 km and 13 km. The trails go through spruce forests, lush deciduous forests and along quiet forest roads. Along the route, there are information boards telling interesting stories about the local history (themes include tar burning, blacksmith’s shops, cup marked rocks). The cup and ring marks in rocks tell about the ancient history when people living in the area made sacrifices to their gods. There’s also a peculiar spruce called snake spruce growing along the route. The lean-to shelter at Tervakumpu and the hill Pyhämäki offer the best views. The shorter route is suitable for kids. Forest birds are often met in the route. Accommodation and sauna available at the Mikkolanniemi Activity Centre.
